4-4-64

peggy beggy 4-4-64 wedding poem

4 - 4 - 64

to Jack

On April 4, 1964
We vowed to love
Each other for evermore.

Just like a dove
These 43 years
Have flown by.

With blessings from above,
So beautiful and bountiful;
Four children to love,
That makes a houseful.

Memories galore,
Pictures to cherish,
We ask for no more
But one little wish.

Hope that these final years
Will bring few tears.

Each challenge we'll greet
With a prayer and a smile,
Then pause for awhile

And remember what
we said on
4 - 4 - 64
and never ask for more.

HURRICANES

Hurricanes

They begin as winds,
restless to be active.
Not showing their hidden sins,
nor how they'll be destructive.

As they stir their witches brew
across the sky above,
these were not ladies as they grew.
They have no thoughts of love.

Katrina, what a cheerful name,
now brings memories of horror.
Forever will it be her shame
of all the tears of sorrow.

Rita, an equally delightful name,
brought additional damage
and rendered the same
destruction and carnage.

These witches now have left
and only the havoc remains.
Where are we to live is our new fret
and where do we send our claims?

WAR

War

A soldier reacts to a war.
His family shares his chore.
Oh God, please protect this being
And help him keep freedom bells ringing.
Peace will only come after great demands,
Which these are now placed in all our hands.

ELECTIONS

Electing the President

Well, this occurs every four years,
although, it is each American's right.
After hearing all the boos and cheers,
not everyone exercises their Might.

Candidates can give you reason for fears,
what we really need are reasons to unite.
Words are needed so a voter hears,
the message to help us see the light

What is needed instead of jeers,
is a candidate to set things right.
Become elected by one's peers
and take away all our fright.

So don't miss the boat
and be sure to vote!!
